KBEMU: Keyboard emulator

An innovative device designed to transmit a button press or pulse from a relay directly to a computer. This technology allows users to control their computer without a physical keyboard and replaces it with an electronic device. The KBEMU module is an ideal solution for various applications where it is necessary to automate input processes to the computer.

Description

Main features:

  • Emulates keyboard input: the KBEMU module allows you to transmit keystrokes directly to the computer as if the user had actually pressed the keyboard.
  • Reliable and fast: the Keyboard Emulator ensures reliable and fast data transfer to the PC, which is essential for many industrial and automation applications.
  • Compatibility: compatible with various operating systems and computer platforms.
  • Wide range of applications:This device is used in industrial control systems, automation, telecommunications, communication technology and other fields.

Usage:

  • Industrial automation: the KBEMU module helps with control and enables automation of industrial processes and machine control.
  • Telecommunications: in telecommunication systems, it is used to control various devices and communicate with a computer.
  • Robotics: in robotic applications, it can be used to control and manipulate robots.
  • Data processing: scientific and laboratory applications where keyboard keystrokes need to be generated for data processing.

We supply the device in the following variants:

  • KBEMU-AC – for connection of 4 buttons (for general use)
  • KBEMU-A – for connecting 4/8 buttons and coin box (for jukeboxes etc.)
  • KBEMU-B – for connection of 8 buttons
  • KBEMU-C – for connection of 32 buttons
  • customized design for scales and other instruments

The device is completely developed and manufactured by us, therefore we are able to offer modifications according to customer’s requirements, especially changing the number of inputs and outputs, their voltage levels, device logic, etc. We can change the USB interface type to PS/2 on request. KBEMU-AC for connection of 4 buttons

In the KBEMU-AC version, the device is designed for general purpose use, typically for connecting relay outputs or industrial pushbuttons to a computer with keyboard-like behavior.

The module is equipped with four inputs for buttons (or other switching contacts) whose presses are transmitted via USB bus to a PC-type computer as keystrokes or press sequences.

Key settings are made in the factory according to customer requirements, for example typically “OK[enter]”, “NOK[enter]”, arrows, digits, Enter etc.

KBEMU-A for connecting 4/8 buttons and coin box (for jukeboxes etc.)

The KBEMU-A version is designed especially for jukeboxes, ordering systems and other non-production automation equipment. The module allows the connection of up to four (A4 version) or eight (A8 version) buttons (or other switching contacts) whose presses are transmitted via USB bus to a PC-type computer as arrow keys on the keyboard (left, right, up, down; in the A8 version additionally 1, 2, 3, 4). This version of the KBEMU module is also equipped with a standard 10-pin connector for the coin changer, which provides a filtered 12 V power supply to the standard coin changers and transmits four coin changer output signals to the PC in the form of keystrokes 1, 2, 3 respectively. 4 on the keyboard.

Optionally, it is possible to activate the function of blocking the coin box at the time when the PC computer or the service application is inactive (only in this case, and only in this case, support from the application software is required); it is also possible to check whether the KBEMU module is correctly connected and active, provided that the application software is supported. These measures are able to prevent coin “stealing” from the equipment at a high percentage of possible malfunctions.

KBEMU-B for connection of 8 buttons

In the KBEMU-B version, the module allows the connection of up to eight buttons (or other switching contacts) whose presses are transmitted via USB bus to a PC-type computer as presses of arrow keys and keys 1, 2, 3 respectively. 4 on the keyboard. The module can be reprogrammed in the factory to simulate any other keys or key sequences. The inputs are connected to terminal blocks, by agreement we can fit Jack connectors instead of terminal blocks.

Up to three relay outputs can be added on request, controlled by Num Lock, Scroll Lock and Caps Lock signals.

This design is most often used for connecting peripherals to information systems, e.g. to computers and PCs respectively. panels with SAP. Either simple buttons for operation or more complex sensors can be connected, e.g. from the production line. Software operation is then very simple for programmers of these systems – just wait for the keystrokes.

KBEMU-C for connection of 32 buttons

In the KBEMU-C version, the module allows the connection of up to 32 buttons (or other switching contacts), whose presses are transmitted via USB bus to a PC-type computer as presses of the A – Z keys, arrow keys and the Enter and Esc keys. The module can be reprogrammed in the factory to simulate any other keys or key sequences.

Up to three relay outputs can be added on request, controlled by Num Lock, Scroll Lock and Caps Lock signals.

Tailored for scales and other instruments

On special order, we can supply a similar converter of the data interfaces of measuring instruments (typically RS-232, RS-485 or GPIB) to “keystrokes” on the computer. The usual use is for scales and force gauges, but we have also implemented connections for other instruments, such as multimeters.

A condition for the implementation of such a converter is the loan of a measuring instrument so that the correct function can be tested. The price range of the transmitter including settings for the measuring instrument is typically up to 4000 CZK without VAT.
